Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre is one of the oldest and most respected multi-specialty hospitals in India. We have been serving the society with world-class health care for over 50 years. Our founder, Seth Lokoomal Chanrai, was a visionary philanthropist who wanted to establish a modern medical centre in Mumbai, where people of all backgrounds and incomes could access advanced health care. He appointed Dr. Shantilal Mehta, a eminent surgeon and medical educator, as the head of the hospital. The name Jaslok was derived from the names of Seth Lokoomal and his wife Smt. Jasotibai.

The hospital was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi on 6th July 1973, and soon became a prominent feature in the city. The hospital is located at Dr. G Deshmukh Marg, Peddar Road, which is a central location in South Mumbai, and has a stunning view of the Arabian Sea. The hospital was designed by the famous architect Charles Correa, who blended elements of Indian culture and aesthetics in the building’s architecture. The hospital also has a beautiful garden, a meditation centre, and a library for the patients and visitors.

Jaslok Hospital is a not-for-profit, tertiary care hospital that provides a wide range of medical specialties and super-specialties. We have a team of highly skilled and experienced doctors, nurses, technicians, and support staff, who are dedicated to delivering the best possible care to our patients. We have 359 regular beds, out of which 72 are allocated for the indigent and weaker sections of the society, who receive free or subsidized treatment. We also have a well-equipped intensive care unit, a neonatal intensive care unit, a dialysis unit, a blood bank, a pathology lab, a radiology department, and a pharmacy.

Jaslok Hospital is also a pioneer in the field of neuromodulation and cell-based therapies, which are the future of medicine. We have introduced various innovative techniques and technologies for treating spinal cord injury, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, and other neurological disorders. We have a dedicated department for neuromodulation and regenerative medicine, which is the first of its kind in the country. Through this department, we aim to offer hope and healing to our patients, using the latest scientific research and ethical practices.
